Kaskus Kiel

Kaskus has a deep and noisy love of mountains and caverns, and longs to return there some day after he's repaid a debt of loyalty to Lavinia, whose father, Verik rescued Kaskus from a life of slavery at the hands of the Corsairs of Tar Vielca nearly a year ago. Kaskus Kiel's loyalty to the Jade Ravens is matched only by his loyalty to Lavinia and the natural world. Although he spent much of the voyage seasick, he's fallen in love with the Isle of Dread and its exotic environs. One of the first things he did upon arriving was to forge a bond with an animal companion from a nearby lagoon - a cantankerous giant crocodile Kaskus has named Kruthkur. After several unfortunate misunderstandings, Kaskus no longer allows Kruthkur inside of Farshore; his pet crocodile has instead taken to living in the river just west of the colony.

Kaskus has been trying to convince the Jade Ravens to make an expedition into the Isle of Dread's interior, but so far, he's only been able to convince Liamae to join him. His obsession with the natural world has all but blinded him to the fact that the Jade Ravens are close to dissolving as a group.

In the battle for Farshore against the Crimson Fleet, Kaskus fell, along with two of the other Jade Ravens. This would have marked his end, however, Ken-ji preformed a reincarnation spell allowing Kaskus' spirit to return. Having every desire to return in order to fulfill his debt of loyalty, to one day return to his beloved mountains, and to continue his near reverent relationship with nature he accepted the new body offered him. Kaskus fell as a dwarf, but has now risen as a human. In addition to being taller, Kaskus now must adjust to the differences of his being.
