Behind the Game: You haven’t looked right since we left Sasserine

Indeed, the player of Saris, Chris, had been unavailable for some time (since the party's departure from Sasserine). I believe Patrick was filling in. Chris did not, in fact, return until they reached the next port, as Saris speculates a sentence or two later. That means that Chris was not in attendence for Chapter 7, thus why Saris could not be awakened (or was it a Sleep spell? Hmm…)

Of course, Saris' response regarding Adameus being one to talk is an in-character quip regarding the Idae/Adameus makeover.
